Retaining walls
Discuss the location, purpose and relationship to the rest of the property. The proposed wall, drainage approach and any engineering or permit requirements need site-specific review.

H30 project photographyThe details that connect it all
Connect patios, pool decks and gathering areas with retaining walls, concrete and decorative finishes. Site evaluation helps determine whether existing surfaces can be retained or need additional work.
Discuss the location, purpose and relationship to the rest of the property. The proposed wall, drainage approach and any engineering or permit requirements need site-specific review.
Plan new surface areas and how they meet the home, pool and existing outdoor spaces. Confirm the extent of removal, preparation and new work in the proposal.
Explore a patterned concrete finish as part of the design conversation. Compare the pattern, color and proposed use alongside the other materials in your backyard.
H30 offers hand-troweled and carved hardscape overlay coatings. Existing surface suitability and the preparation included must be reviewed before confirming an overlay approach.
A decorative finish and a structural repair are different scopes. Do not assume a coating will resolve movement, drainage or underlying surface problems.
Before we build
Share what you are trying to improve: the appearance, a connection between spaces, a new patio area or an existing problem that needs further review.
Show H30 any cracks, uneven areas, previous coatings, pooling water or past repairs. The proposal should distinguish surface preparation and decorative work from repairs or replacement that need separate evaluation.
New walls and changes to the site can involve approval questions beyond the finish selection. Southlake’s construction resources, for example, include earth-disturbance and tree-protection information. Confirm the requirements for your own property rather than applying another city’s guidance automatically.
Southlake: construction and site-work resourcesThe area, access, surface preparation and selected finish shape the hardscaping proposal.
The H30 process
Review the layout, selections and revisions together before approving the work for construction.
Identify the intended use, existing conditions and the surrounding project.
Discuss the proposed concrete, wall or coating work and finish direction.
Clarify preparation, selected materials, exclusions and any required additional review.
Confirm sequencing, approvals where needed and the agreed construction arrangements.
Before using the finished surface, review the care instructions, waiting periods and maintenance expectations for the materials used. These should be specific to the products and conditions of your project.

Designed as a whole
Coordinate the hardscape conversation with the pool edge, patio and outdoor-living features. Bring photographs of the surfaces you like, then discuss which materials and approaches are suitable for your own property.
Review the written workmanship and product coverage for the surfaces in your proposal. Ask which maintenance instructions apply and what exclusions or existing conditions should be documented.
Explore third-party financing optionsH30 offers retaining walls, concrete, stamped concrete and hand-troweled or carved hardscape overlay coatings. Discuss the area, intended use and current conditions so the team can establish a suitable proposed scope.
Stamping creates an imprinted pattern or texture. An overlay is a new surfacing layer applied over suitable existing concrete, and some overlay systems can also be stamped. For your proposal, confirm whether work involves a new slab or an existing surface, the preparation required and the selected finish.
The existing concrete and coating requirements need to be evaluated first. Show H30 known cracks, uneven areas, earlier coatings and drainage concerns before selecting an overlay.
A decorative coating should not be treated as a guaranteed repair for an underlying problem. Identify the issue during evaluation and distinguish the necessary investigation or repair scope from the appearance of the finished surface.
Requirements depend on the property, proposed wall and the relevant authority. Confirm any engineering or permit requirements before finalizing the work.
